Picking The Right Escape Game
All escape rooms aren’t created equal. Some are just downright harder than others, so to maximize your personal fun factor, it’s important that you take a few things into consideration as you make your decisions because choosing the wrong escape game can lead to frustration, feelings of inadequacy and quite possibly extreme hair pulling. Ok, maybe that’s extreme, but we just want to help you have a really good time.
So, with that in mind, we’ve developed some quick things to consider when choosing an escape room around Atlanta.
How Many Players In Your Escape Room?
The first thing to consider when picking your escape room is how many people are you bringing with you to the escape game. If it’s just you and one other person- your girlfriend, your wife, your wife and your girlfriend (we’re not judging!), you’ll want to factor this in.
Here’s why- with only two people playing, some escape games are practically impossible. There’s just too many clues and too many distractions for two people to tackle, and if you don’t have enough people, it’s kind of a set up for failure- no matter how many clues you get. So, unless you’re into that kind of thing (failure, self-abuse, etc.), then you probably want to ask the game masters which escape rooms are better for a small number of players.
Keep in mind, if you only have a couple of people to bring with you, that’s fine. We’ll simply add your group to another small group to make it more fun for everybody. You’ll get a chance to make new friends and see how you do when you’re all put into a pressure situation to escape the room. We say, “Bring it!”
Now, if you have a larger group (say 6 or more), then the size of the escape room doesn’t matter
Facilitated Or Non-Facilitated Escape Games?
One thing to think about is how hard do you want your escape room experience to be? When it comes to escape rooms in Atlanta, there are some franchises that put you and your group in nothing more than a conference room with a few props, tell you theme and toss various puzzles at you. If you get stuck, you stay stuck until time runs out. That is the definition of a non-facilitated escape game.
While a facilitated escape game has a game master watching your group on closed circuit TV the entire time. When you run into trouble, (notice that we didn’t say “if” you run into trouble. Moo ha ha!), the game master will offer a hint to facilitate the game along. This allows the group to determine how hard they want the escape game to be. Plus, it tends to make things more enjoyable when you know you have some help from above.
Decorated Escape Rooms Vs Not So Much
Like we said, some escape rooms are as well decorated as a rental storage shed. You can see how they cut a few (like “ALL”) corners in decorating the place. Other escape rooms are like stepping back in time when you walk in. The best escape rooms work hard to immerse you in the experience as part of the thrill of the experience. It’s important to ask about decorations when you book your escape game.

This is most likely the newest escape game in Atlanta. Harry Houdini has found himself repeatedly challenged by his arch rival Rahman Bey who fancies himself as the greatest escape artist of all time. To prove it, he’s challenged Harry to a series of intricate escapes but before tonight’s show, Rahman snuck into Harry’s dressing room and tampered with his handcuffs and padlocks. Harry will be locked into an airtight box, but he won’t be able to escape like usual unless you can discover all the clues and find the emergency air valve to save Harry’s life. Hurry, Harry’s running out of air!
This escape game is good for 2-6 players, but is best with 3 or more.
